Plumpton Research Articles

Location

Plumpton is a largely flat area facing the Morecambe Bay sea but there is a low ridge of hills near the shore. This ridge protects the dwellings on the land side and also provides some sandy coves on the sea edge. It borders Greenodd, Arrad Foot and Newland to the north side and Ulverston to the west. Originally, much of the land was tidal marsh but when the railway company built the embankments, some of the land was reclaimed for farming, residential and business purposes.
